Thousands of people use Elevators (Lifts) daily in DMRC. These Elevators are equipped with automatic rescue operation in case of supply failure and meets all requirements as per IS: 14665 and EN: 81.
DMRC ensures continuous improvement in reliability, availability & maintainability parameters in lifts. Operating hours of these elevators has been increased from 17 to 20 hrs.
Salient Features of Elevators in DMRC:
- Uses Electric Traction Drive system with AC synchronous gearless machine (PMSM) with VVVF control.
- LCE Control and user-interface from top floor level (MAP).
- 2:1 rope hoisting with under-slung roping arrangement.
- T-type guiderail guides the car and counter-weight vertically.
- Battery drive carries lift up-to floor level in emergency.
- Regenerates energy during travel in light loaded direction & braking.
- Designed for physically challenged persons.
- Doors are equipped with door safety and sensors and are designed for 2 hours’ fire-rating.
- Spring buffer used for free fall of lift.
- Maintenance friendly (No gear system used).
- Energy efficient, almost works on unity power factor.
- Car door bypass (avoid trapping due to door contact problem during travel).
- Auto-call (avoid false trapping call).
To meet the training requirements, full-fledged working elevator is installed at the Academy for providing training to new trainees as well as to existing employees for refresher course.
The full scale elevator is being used for practical exposure to the trainees about its constituents, functionality, maintenance, operating & rescue procedures.
The elevator is having see-through glass car-door, landing-door & car-body, to easily view all elevator parts.
The trainers can provide detailed training regarding maintenance & breakdown of elevator at DMRA itself. This not only saves time on account of commuting but also avoids inconvenience to the passenger/s at station due to training.
The theoretical lectures can be followed by practical on the elevator which provides better understanding for trainees.
